nina + rob : ithaca farmers market : finger lakes wedding photographer

When Nina and Rob first wrote to me about their Ithaca Farmer's Market wedding, I knew I had to make it happen, no matter what. Ithaca and the Finger Lakes region are like a second home to me, and I leap at any excuse to visit. I met Rob in high school when he dated my best friend and I dated his. With those days long gone, it was also a great opportunity to see an old friend in his new, grown-up life.

Rob and Nina met at a party in DC, when Rob learned Nina's friend had bailed on her for a Clap Your Hands Say Yeah show and offered to go in their place. She fell in love with him that night.

The market, a hub of Ithaca life for many decades, had been positively transformed into one of the sweetest wedding venues. I guess I'm a sucker for string lights and a good blush and coral color palette. Can you blaaaaame me?

The bride was walked down the aisle and into the light by her mother and father. Rob's face when he saw Nina for the first time gave me all the feelings.

I don't usually put posed family portraits into my sneak peeks. But when I photographed Rob with his mom, he became visibly choked up. Something tells me this shot is a special one. And one of Nina's family for checks and balances. PLUS aren't they just lovely?

Nina and Rob are really into authenticity and DIY details. Their entire wedding involved friends, and friends of their family, and the beauty and love this yielded showed in the details. Because of this, and because I've been a Polaroid junkie all my life (my grandparents documented our lives on Polaroid film and I inherited my pop pop's camera when he passed), I chose to incorporate some assorted film photography for them throughout the day. The best part of instant film is, I don't need to wait like for the rest of the rolls.

The sun, which had been shining intensely all day, finally began to set during dinner, luring many guests onto the dock.

With all the formalities out of the way, it was time to cut some rug. Rob and Nina had THE best wedding music, right on par with my favorite wedding DJ, Chances with Wolves (half of the husband-wife photography team Les Loups). Their friend Ed was in charge of the playlist, so a quick tip of the hat to Ed for a job well done.
