Brooke and Simon came to AGP through one of those incredible stRokes of wedding luck. Planning their wedding from Toronto, they employed the help of Bree Tomar from All About Events, who called on us for her then-anonymous couple. After our initial coffeehouse meeting, I learned they were friends of a former AGP bride's sister, Jess, who would also serve as MOH in their April wedding. To make it even better, we'd then go on to shoot one of Brooke's bridesmaid's wedding in September. I love full circle moments like this!
Brooke and her girls rented an Airbnb in Rittenhouse Square for their primping, while Simon and his mates chose a hotel in Center City. As often happens when bowties are on the menu, not a soul among the groomsmen could figure out how to tie Simon up. So associate photographer Eliza documented as they trekked to Macy's for a little assistance.
Brooke's Airbnb selection served us perfectly when it came time for the couple's First Look. The alley behind the building was full of photo ops, including a beautiful aqua wall that perfectly complemented Brooke's bouquet. And don't you just die over their flowers??? I couldn't help but to make them the cover of our new AGPcollective Client Welcome Packages. Amazing work by Kerry of Fabufloras!!
Next we brought in the bridal party, many of them from Simon's home across the pond. I know I'm not the only one with a thing for Brits-- so wishing these images had audio for your accent-loving hearts.
It was time to head to Manayunk, but we had the limo pull over for an impromptu stop along Kelly Drive. We were hunting for a greenery-and-stone backdrop to mirror one of Simon and Brooke's favorite shots from their Wissahickon engagement session, and while it's not perfect, managed to do alright, given the time constraints.
Artesano is an interesting venue. It's remarkably unique and has such an intimate and artful feeling. Yet for whatever reason, I struggle to capture that feeling in photographs -- something that normally comes naturally to me. I still haven't figured out whether it's the variety of colors and textures present, or the overall darkness, but whatever it is, it has got me stumped!
Still, I will say to anyone considering it to move forward with confidence. The care and passion with which the management team operates their space is sure to make any couple feel like royalty.
Brooke + Simon had both their ceremony and reception in the gallery. Be sure to view the slideshow at the end of our post for more highlights from their day.
Finally, time to party. Such perfect details, brought to you by Fabufloras.
